Mark’s Got A New Plane!

It’s big and loud. This is it’s first go. I think Mark did very, very well. He soon got the hang of it and started chucking it around and bunging on the smoke thingie …. marvellous!

Here’s flight number two (thanks for the movie Darren), the plane is better trimmed and Martk ready to push it about a bit.

Brian Makes It To Safety!

Brian is doing great now, he’s got the hang of taking off, he can often manage the whole flight without any need for the instructor to take over and has landed under his own steam at least three times. Two of them were successful. One was a bit damp. Progress!

A Sunny Day In April

It was the first lovely, Spring day of 2018 yesterday and the attendance at the field certainly gave that away. It started off misty and it was bit breezy. This made flying a touch tricky as the mist was clearing. There’s the plane flying around in a clear bit of sky, the pilot sensibly avoiding the misty bits. Then the wind blows, the mist moves and …. where’s the plane?

The sun shone through soon enough and all sorts of aerial (and some ground) based fun ensued. An early moment of interest, two delightful helicopters flying at the same time:

The Shape of Things to Come‘ or ‘Dave Does the Turbine Taxi Tease‘?

This flight could have ended better. The ‘landing’ has been censored, I feel that it’s just not good form to air such material. Paul seemed to feel that he had a narrow escape and the damage is minor.

Even if you watch this in full screen the plane is just a dot (a lot of the time) when it landed so you haven’t missed anything but it’s the principle of the thing!

The First Thursday

And the Landlord said, “Let there be flying all year round.”

And our happy band of flying chums said, “Woohoo!”

And made a fair showing today considering it was … a Thursday, yes, a Thursday and flying model aircraft on a lovely Spring Thursday is luxury indeed.

So, it was a first for us today, we flew on a Thursday and a fine day it was. There were mishaps. There was entertainment (Matt was at the field – I hope I can find video evidence).

For those too busy at work we mourn your absence but, from now on, if the weather’s good we can fly – lots of opportunities ahead at this fine time of year.

Foggy Day At The Field

Challenging weather today!

Here’s Tony flying his Bean – this plane had it’s first flight just a few days back.

This is Paul’s new plane, a Boomerang. It’s his first nitro plane. Well, he has a couple more at home but this is the first one he’s brought to the field. It got a thorough check over and some serious fettling from the usual suspects then Steve took it for this test flight. It all went very well and we’re looking forward to seeing Paul fly it himself soon.
